Montreal's Village District
Montreal is considered by many to be the most gay-friendly city in North America. So it is no surprise to discover that the village, which is often referred to as the Gay Village (Le Village Gai de Montréal in French) is one of the liveliest districts in Montreal. In fact, Montreal has the biggest Gay Village in all of North America.
The night scene inside the Village is incredible. There are many nightclubs and bars that cater to all tastes. The various merchants of the Village also hold extravagant events that take place in late July during the Gay and Lesbian Pride parade. The pride festival is called Divers/Cité.
There are a variety of restaurants, bars, cafés, boutiques and shops in the village that target the gay and lesbian community. However, you do not have to gay or lesbian to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of Montreal's village. The village is located on Sainte-Catherine street East, in the downtown district.
