Montreal's Underground City
Montreal’s Underground City is a must-visit for anybody visiting Montreal in the wintertime. And if you are an avid shopper, then you definitely have to check out the Underground City. The Underground City consists of approximately 30km of tunnels that spread over an area of twelve square kilometers of downtown Montreal. Using the Montreal’s Metro and some well-positioned walkways and tunnels, visitors can connect from underground building to another without ever having to peek outside.
Buildings like the Montreal Trust building extend 4-5 floors below the ground level and reveal an Underground City in which the visitor can take part in a multitude of activities. These activities include: shopping, drinking, eating, clubbing, concerts, theatres, museums and site seeing.
Several different sections of the Underground City exist in Montreal. The largest section is at the centre of downtown, between Peel and Place-des-Arts metro stations on the Green Line, and between Lucien-L'Allier and Place-d'Armes stations on the Orange Line.
