Montreal's Plateau Mont-Royal District
The Plateau is short for Plateau Mont-Royal. The Plateau is probably Montreal's most trendy and hip neighborhood. There are many historic areas in this densely populated district. Located just north of downtown, it is the most densely populated district in Montreal. The residents of the Plateau are quick to tell you that they have the coolest neighborhood in not only Montreal, but all of Canada.
The Plateau Mont-Royal district is well-known for its fantastic nightlife. The nightlife is even livelier in the summer when there are many tourists who visit the district. During the summer months, there are many street fairs and festivals that occur on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, which happens to be the main street of this district.
You can also find many outdoor cafés and an incredible selection of restaurants. The Plateau is famous for its restaurants, bars, clubs and lounges. There are various brightly colored houses and cozy book shops in this neighborhood that help give it its distinctive charm. Montreal's hip and trendy Plateau Mont Royal's main streets include Saint Laurent Boulevard, Saint Denis StreetMount Royal Avenue and Sherbrooke Street.
